Eighth grade Spelling Bee Champions from Easterbrook Discovery, Latimer, and Moreland Middle schools will compete in a SCRIPPS National Spelling Bee online test this month, with a goal of being among the top 50 in the region to move on to the Bay Area Regional Spelling Bee in Pleasanton in February.

Four Moreland Middle School (MMS) students have been selected to be musicians in the regional California Music Educators Association (CMEA) ensembles and three Easterbrook Discovery Middle School (EDMS) students/one Latimer student/four MMS students were selected from musicians throughout the State of California to be part of the Junior High All-State Honor Ensembles.

Easterbrook Discovery and Moreland Middle Schools have been awarded Innovation Grants through the Moreland Education Foundation (MEF) Small Grants Program.

Team CENTER, a group of three Moreland Middle School students, is one of only five teams that advanced to the First LEGO Robotics Northern California Peninsula District Championship taking place December 16, 2018 at St. Francis High School in Mountain View.

Felipe Feldman, an 8th grader at Easterbrook Discovery Middle School, has been selected to be a part of the SJZ High School All Stars, a regional audition-based jazz band for students interested in the study and performance of jazz.

Anderson Elementary School was the recipient of a $7,000 grant and school supplies, as part of the Allstate Foundation’s Helping Hands grants.

The Moreland School District announced the retirement of long-time Board Member Karen Whipple after 12 years of service to the Moreland community. In addition, the District expects an additional vacancy after Trustee Robert Varich joins the Campbell Union High School District’s Board of Trustees, a seat he was elected to on November 6, 2018.

Moreland participated in the International Great ShakeOut on Wednesday, October 17, 2018.  The Great ShakeOut is a day of individual and community events featuring the largest earthquake drill ever, organized to inspire people to get ready for big earthquakes.

Moreland School District’s three middle schools ended the Fall Sports season strong with top three standings and student athletes who have qualified to compete in today’s Silicon Valley Championship Meet at Evergreen Park in Evergreen Community College.
