Moreland Middle School English Language Arts and Social Studies teacher for English Learner students, Shanna Urbancic, has been selected as one of three teachers to represent Santa Clara County at the California State Teacher of the Year competition.

Students from Kindergarten - 8th grade across the District had the unique opportunity to study and experience the total solar eclipse supervised!

Country Lane Elementary School was the recipient of new shaded benches, thanks to the volunteer service of local Boy Scouts, led by Life Scout Jeffrey Zang of Troop 330 in Campbell. Built around existing solar panel structures, six benches were built and installed for the students to use during their recess and lunch time.

The MEF Pumpkin Patch is a beloved Moreland tradition that combines family fun with community building and fundraising. It attracts over 3,000 visitors each year!

Baker 4th and 5th graders were recipients of the National Football League’s (NFL) 49ers Play 60 Initiative, a national youth health and fitness campaign focused on increasing the wellness of young students by encouraging them to be active for at least 60 minutes a day.

Three schools have focused their lessons or school-wide events toward teaching students about empathy and the need to help those affected by the most recent hurricanes. Baker and Easterbrook Discovery School classrooms have student-led hurricane relief efforts, and Payne Elementary School will supplement their annual Book Fair with a Book Drive for hurricane-affected schools.

Showing up for school has a huge impact on a student’s academic success starting in kindergarten and continuing through high school. Even as children grow older and more independent, families play a key role in making sure students get to school safely every day and understand why attendance is so important for success in school and in life.

Easterbrook Discovery School (EDS) has recently been ranked as the highest individual fundraising school for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s ® Pennies for Patients ® campaign in the Silicon Valley and Monterey Bay Area. With over 300 schools participating in this region, Easterbrook Discovery School raised $15,676.92, a gain of more than $3,500 from their Number One spot last school year.
