Moreland Schools Fundraise to Support Fire-Affected Schools

April 19, 2018, San Jose, CA:  Two Moreland schools have raised money to support Sonoma County schools affected by the North County fires in October 2017.  At the peak of the fires earlier this school year, 180 schools were closed in Sonoma County.

Country Lane Elementary School raised over $2,500 through Spirit Week donations that benefited Piner-Olivet School in Santa Rosa.  Students donated loose change and dollars to come to school for “Dress Like a Book Character Day” or “Backwards Day,” to name a few of the fun Spirit Day options for students.

Latimer 3rd grade students held an art auction at the Moreland School District Office for Latimer parents and community members.  Over $1,100 was raised through purchased student art that went directly to Hidden Valley Elementary School in Santa Rosa.

The Moreland School District is incredibly proud of the continued efforts students, families and community members have made to support various organizations in need throughout the region, state and country.  One of Moreland’s Strategic Plan goals is to “Prepare Students to Become Responsible Citizens.” Through providing a safe, supportive environment in all seven Moreland schools, students are demonstrating a global awareness and respect for their school, community, and surrounding environment.
