Latimer Students featured on NBC Bay Area Latimer Students featured on NBC Bay Area Show Transcript the story I can't wait to tell you about it's about a South Bay group of students giving back 1 sock at a time making us all Bay Area proud these are fourth grade students at Latimer School in Moreland the school district there in San Jose and they decided to to launch a soft drive to collect new socks for victims of the recent Los Angeles wildfires we spoke to 2 of those students about what inspired them to act first needs with diapers and wipes but we thought that that could be a bit hard for families to access and socks and underwear were the second most needed item and those are easy to get I really want to help them and kind of give them like a start like getting new houses and stuff like that now remember these are fourth grade students okay oh my God so the school's principal says those students actually approached her about this idea to give back and Andrew came to me and said Mrs Gail I do something this is a really big problem and I figured it out um we were really proud he said I figured it out like I love that so look the group ended up with 2,250 pairs of socks for the official Drive total Published March 25, 2025 Print
